Joshua Bongard

**Josh Bongard** is the Veinott Professor of Computer Science at the University of Vermont and director of the [Morphology, Evolution & Cognition Laboratory](https://www.meclab.org/). His work involves automated design and manufacture of soft-, evolved-, crowdsourced-, and biological robots (so-called "xenobots"). A [PECASE](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_Early_Career_Award_for_Scientists_and_Engineers), [TR35](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innovators_Under_35), and [Cozzarelli Prize](https://www.pnas.org/page/about/cozzarelli-prize) recipient, he has received funding from NSF, NASA, DARPA, ARO and the Sloan Foundation. He is the co-author of the book [How The Body Shapes the Way We Think](https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/how-body-shapes-way-we-think), the instructor of a reddit-based evolutionary robotics [MOOC](https://www.reddit.com/r/ludobots/), and director of the robotics outreach program [Twitch Plays Robotics](https://www.twitch.tv/twitchplaysrobotics).
